Ashpool's 2001-2003 compilation release combines Subtitles in Stereo with three live tracks and a newly recorded studio track.
Songs like "Boodle" and "The Process" from Ashpool's debut E.P. helped establish Ashpool's unique sound which combines pop and prog.
"...Ashpool has definitely hit upon something good here, and while King Crimson is an obvious influence, [Boodle] has a character of its own, something to bring prog rock back into the mainstream perhaps. If only there was a market for instrumental music, this would definetly go places."
-Progressive Dimensions
Ashpool's live recording at Pete's 881 club showcases the band's live performance with its combination of groove, improvisation and composition. Songs like "Subtitles in Stereo" an "Shady Retreat" have become crowd favorites and thanks to the 4-26-02 recording, people outside the San Francisco Bay Area can get an ideo of Ashpool's live performances.
After playing "Lucky Ride" in the studio Ashpool decided to release the recording of this crowd favorite to round out the disc.
